Just filmed my first day on the new Disney film John Carter of Mars. We were filming on the Bluebell Railway down in Sussex at a reconstructed Victorian station. They didn't tell us they were using a rain machine! We all got pretty wet but it was still fun to do. I have been penciled in for another 3 days at the film studio's in March so hopefully that will happen. Another cool thing was the boots I was wearing had been worn by the actress Uma Thurman in a previous production, couldn't say what film but they were great and I wanted to take them with me!
Also I have just done some filming for the TV programme 'The Culture Show' to be aired on Thursday 4th March on BBC2 so look out for me being a Hungarian woman of the 50's!
I will be off down to the south coast this Saturday to take part in an Aliens fan film, playing a lab tech and an alien! Sounds like a lot of fun and I shall let you know how it goes.

Still going to auditions and hoping!GRIN

JoMARVIN

I've just been booked for a weeks filming in April for the new Harry Potter film which is very cool! The John Carter filming is coming up in a couple of weeks time so looking forward to some filming again. A couple of other things are in the pipeline but I will mention them a bit later, nearer the time. Wolfman is now at the cinema's, not seen it yet but looking forward to see if I can see myself for a fleeting moment!GRIN
Good old Memorabilia at the NEC is also on the books for the end of March so already down for that. I have a really good feeling for this year so hopefully I will be posting up some great stuff in the coming months so hang with me and fingers crossed some good things will happen :)

JoMARVIN

Well January is well underway and things are slowly starting to happen.
The background filming for the film John Carter this month has been pushed back to next month (maybe do to with the weather) so I have my costume fit date in a few weeks time.

BBC's drama Survivors has now started with the first episode aired Tuesday just gone (13th Jan), I will be in the next episode, but thanks to some bloody live football match being aired, it has been pushed back to the 26th Jan. Really looking forward to seeing this so remember to watch in a couple of weeks.

Just recovered after having a nasty cold and outer ear infection which saw me curled up on the sofa for the last couple of weeks but thankfully the antibiotics have started to work and feeling much better than I was.

I will be arranging to meet up with the director I mentioned in my last post to discuss future filming projects very soon so I shall keep you informed of how that goes.

Shadower is now pretty much complete and will be available to buy in about a months time. It has been listed on IMDB, unfortunately it listed the wrong Jo Marriott in my role so just waiting for them to change that! Duh. Please check out the Shadower Website as there has been some updates to the site and a new interview with the director has been added which is very interesting. Shadower Website

Happy New Year and lets hope it's a goodun!!

JoMARVIN

I hope you will stick with me for another year, hopefully one filled with more opportunities and exciting projects.
2009 has been a year with some fun projects, for me some of the highlights were being a part of the new Robin Hood film as Friar Tucks wench and for the filming in Oklahoma of Shadower with Sean. I'm already booked to do some supporting artist work on a new Hollywood film called John Carter in January and a director from an audition I did has me pencilled in for his next project some time this year.
Sorry for the delay in the last couple of posts, been away from a computer for a while and it makes things difficult to update things properly.
Anyway a few things have happened over the last couple of months. Firstly I just did a days filming on Casualty, I had a walk on role at the start of a scene as a patient with an eye patch! You will see me receive my pain killers from one of the main actresses, I was told it will air sometime in February, I will keep an eye out (no pun intended!) for it and let you know.
Been going to several auditions , keep slogging away hoping someone will see sense and choose me for a role!
The filming on the new Clint Eastwood film was great, I was so close to him I could have touched him, wow! He was amazing and so professional, just wish I could have got a photo of him but we were not allowed at all to take photo's or approach him :( Anyway I was lucky to be there with him and that was just great! The scene was set at a Tube Station so you may see me walk past the shot! lol
Also appeared on the BBC programme The One Show as James Earl Jones (voice of Darth Vader) was the guest. About a dozen of us as Stormtroopers and Darth Vader went along as part of a UKG event, here is the edited footage The One Show Footage
A few weeks ago, for those who didn't see my post on my Facebook page, Sean and I took part in the world record attempt for the most people in costume doing the Timewarp from the Rocky Horror Show. Richard O'Brian was there as well as the cast from the stage production. I believe we broke the record with over 1500 people taking part. It was fun but mad too, check out some footage Time Warp Video watch your speakers because it's loud!

We went in PotC kit which was a laugh and had lots of photo's taken!
As you can see from the previous post Memorabilia has been and gone which was a lot of fun. So all in all a fair few things been going on!

Well I'm sure there will be more to post soon, but in the meantime take care and get those Christmas presents sorted!

JoMARVIN

Winter Mem descended on Birmingham and as ever was attended by the UKG and many stars of film and television. The event had a smaller feel to it, being in a different (smaller) hall and smaller crowds, but the crowds did seem to be fairly enthusiastic.
This time I went as Xena with Sean as Jack Sparrow. I was really pleasantly surprised by the crowds reaction to me what with Xena not being on the screen for a while. I had loads of photo's taken and had a couple of very excited fans jumping up and down when they saw me!GRIN
Great to see the spirit of Xena continuing out there with fans showing their appreciation of me.
Met some really great people and some of the stars were just great! Had to have my piccie taken with the only actor with a Xena connection at the event, Tony Todd who played Cecrops.

Scary bloke but nice too! He said he enjoyed watching Xena climb the ropes from below!! cheeky :)
Other actors that were really lovely was Neil Dickson who played Biggles in the 80's movie what a gent. Anthony Montgomery from Star Trek Enterprise was just lovely and very friendly, chatted with him for a while. The kind of guy you could imagine being mates with. Catherine Schell from Space 1999 and Return of the Pink Panther remembered us from last Mem and invited us to go horse riding with her in France! How cool is that! Mitch Pileggi who plays Skinner from the X files was very nice and complimented me on how much I looked liked Lucy. He said he was great friends with her and that he had seen several Xena impersonators at similar type of events and how I was the closest he had seen! Wow great compliment! Another nice meeting was with Deborah Moore, Roger Moores daughter who I worked with on a film called Merlin several years ago with Jason Connery. We chatted about the film, she was very nice and friendly, it was lovely to see her again.
There were so many cool things over the weekend, had a piccie in a Back to the Future car, one coming out of a Tardis with the Doctor to name a few. I may put some other pics up on my My Space page in the next few weeks will let you know if I do.
As ever had a great time at Mem with the family G and Sean and to finish off a great photo of us with Warwick Davis and family our new found friends :)

Until the next one!

Movie Mania Weekend - National Space Centre, Leicester - 26th/27th September2009

Well here we are again 3rd time around, Movie Mania 3. I remember the first one where I played an Alien in the Alien Encounter for the whole weekend! I missed the second one due to work but thankfully I was free for this one. The event had star signings by Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Jerome Blake (several Star Wars characters) Warwick Davis (Wicket plus several other characters) and Trevor Steedman (Pvt. Wierzbowski) from the film Aliens.
The UKG as ever was out in force supported by the UKCM (Alien Legacy guys) and the Replica Prop Boards with an amazing display of real and re-production props and costumes.

The welcome return of the Alien Encounter went down well and was busy all day long scaring the heck out of all who dared to enter. I started the day as Dark Phoenix with Seans Wolverine, after lunch we changed and both took part in the Alien Encounter. As ever it was a great experience and made all the better by all those taking part in it. It was great to wear the Alien costume again in the best surroundings that there can be. This time around at one point there was 5 aliens! After the last public tour of the day 3 of us in our alien costumes went outside escorted by some of the colonial marines. We joined other characters outside and were mobbed by the crowds! People cautiously edged towards us to have their photo taken with us.

There was also a very special treat for the UKG as well as the public, something which has never happened before and a first not just for the Garrison but a first anywhere. The actor Jeremey Bulloch who played Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi had secretly slipped away for a surprise. Members of the bounty hunter forum "The Dented Helmet" had pooled together and made Jeremey his own Boba Fett costume. In the changing room a surprise presentation was announced that required everyones attention, as Teri the UKG CO handed over to "Mark" who was dressed as Fett, he removed his helmet to reveal Jeremey in the Fett costume! Well you can see the reaction here "Jeremey's Reveal" He then spent the next hour or so trooping as Boba Fett! What a top bloke, he is so lovely!

Another reason why I enjoyed this troop was my good friend Big Tony, I helped him get his costume together so he could get involved with the UKG. This was his first troop and he was dressed as Indiana Jone's dad from the third Indy film The Last Crusade. He went down a storm with the UKG and the public and even made the Leicester Mercury website! Check him out Indy's Dad 4th image on the page.

Well a big thanks goes to all who made this event happen and here's hoping we will do it all again next year. As ever thanks to Sean for trooping with me and making a crackin tag team! :)
Thanks to Mike Watters for the Alien photo and Samantha Jones of the Jeremy Photo's.

Help for Heroes Fun Day - Worcester - 6th September 2009

The Help for Heroes day held at Hindlip Hall, near Worcester, had parachute display teams, helicopters and bomb disposal teams entertaining thousands of people who attended, along with a number of special guests, including some brave soldiers who were themselves injured in action.

Organisers believe they have doubled the number of visitors they had at last year’s event, with an estimated 12,000 people turning up, helping to raise about £40,000 over the day for the charity.

Also on display were emergency service vehicles, tanks, helicopters and an amazing fly over by a Spitfire. The UKG were there in support for this very worthy cause, with Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Vaders Aprentice, Batman and Sean and myself as Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann. The UKG members themselves raised over £650 with their collection tins aided by the cadets who followed us around.

We had a brilliant time at this event, were well looked after by the organisers and was humbled meeting the injured servicemen. Speaking to the soldiers it brings it home what these lads go through over there in Iraq and Afganistan and they should be supported by us all. It was a pleasure to support this event!
