Yet another great event at the National Space Centre, the adpoted home of the UK Garrison! The event was so well supported by Garrison members every where you turned there was a Star Wars character of some description!
This event also saw a couple of new Star Wars characters premiering at the event, the Bounty Hunter ranks were joined by Dengar and Bossk, both characters seen in Empire Strikes Back. As you can see from the photo my new costume/character of Bossk, I'm really happy the way the costume as turned out. Lots of hard work and frustration seems to have been worth it!
I started both days as a Stormtrooper as the Bossk costume is not the easiest of ones to wear. The morning sessions saw Green squad hassling the public as they pulled into the car park. Many a person was made to exit their vehicles and assist in security checks searching the contents of car boots! Need I say many items of contraband were confiscated (Sweets and chocolates!)
The event had the ever so popular Jedi training school for the youngsters as well as the photo stand, displays of props and costumes, Q & A sessions on several topics and signings from Oscar Award Winning Costume Designer (Original Trilogy) John Mollo.
A brilliant weekend was had by all and with the UK Garrison Charity Ball on the Saturday night really topped of the whole event. Even better was the total raised over the weekend, with the money from the charity auction and the takings of the days events a grand total of £6,500.00! was made. Hats off to everyone involved. All the monies raised over this years events will be added up and split between several charities, when this is announced I will let you know as I know it's going to be an amazing amount!
As usual Gary in the Garrison took some great photos of the weekend event as well as others, please check out his site to see the photos. Here is the link Garys photo site

( 3.1 / 117 )A corporate family fun day was organised at the National Space Centre for employees of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The Garrison was invited to send a few troopers along to add to the fun of the days activities.
The Garrison was able to supply the likes of Darth Vader, Boba Fett and several stormtroopers and a Snowtrooper. The day started off very quietly with the families turning up in dribs and drabs until a little later when the numbers started to get better. The attendees had a film show in the Planetarium followed by a fantastic spread laid on by the Space Centre. The children also had fun/craft activites to do as well as spending the afternoon going around the centre itself. The usual posing for photos with the families and sorting out the cheeky kids and making them do press ups!

Eventually the families drifted off home and left the rest of us to hassle the general public. I think one of the highlights of the day had to be at the end of the day. We were standing outside the entrance of the Space Centre when a little old asian lady came across to us. She didn't seem to speak any English and I don't think she had even heard of Star Wars let alone know who we were! She stood there starring at us wondering what we were! It seemed she had been left outside by her family whilst they went inside, she kind of adopted us and stayed with us until her family came back outside! She was really very cute and we kind of adopted her ourselves!

A strange day to say the least but many a laugh was had through out the day. A very special thanks has to go to Marks good lady Natalie who laid on a fantastic spread of food for us all, Andy's mum for making the cookies, Heidi and Karen for spotting/helping and the rest of the crew for making the day as fun as it was!

( 3 / 107 )Well for those who caught it by accident like me, I appeared on TV twice in as many days! The BBC aired a programme called "Street Doctor" where a team of medic's go around a chosen city and stop people in the street asking them about their aches and pains. The episode I was in was filmed in Nottingham at the World Record attempt of as many Robin Hoods in one place at one time, (see my write up). They were around filming the episode and filmed us whilst at the event! Just by chance I had the programme on and saw myself if all but a moment! Then the following night was the Dick Turpin documentary. Typical I couldn't get to see it when aired and have still yet to see it. They did film a scene of my character on the gallows but it wasn't shown, I guess maybe they found out afterwards that Mary didn't hang and was the only surviver of the gang.
Well the next big event coming up will be the annual big Star Wars event at the National Space Centre in Leicester 22nd/23rd September. If you can make this event do so it is always a cracker of an event with the last one being sold out! I shall (fingers crossed) be premiering my new Star Wars costume, Bossk the bounty hunter from Empire Strikes Back. I'm still working on it as I type so hopefully will be complete in time. Obviously I will post piccies and a report but why wait till then, if you can make the event, do so.
Oh by the way I did do a mornings filming a couple of weeks ago on a small independent film, just a very short scene but I will let you know when I hear more news about it.
Ok then I shall speak to you again very soon.

( 3 / 197 )I've justed added a couple of new Garrison reports for now, they are dated as the date they happened so you may need to scroll down a little to find them. I will add a couple more later today if I get the chance.
