Anyway his wife wanted to know if it would be possible if someone from the Garrison could attended in costume as a mark of respect and a nod to his affection for the Garrison. It was a difficult decision as it was such a delicate situation and the Garrison doesn't normally do these kind of occasions. After much debate on the forum it was decided that we would attend as the letter from his wife was so touching. When she heard that the Garrison had agreed she was overcome with joy. In the end I attended as a helper/spotter and a fellow Garrison member Andy attended as a Stormtrooper. I won't go too much into detail about what happened as it was a very personal moment but Andy walked in front of the coffin into the chapel and stood next to it through the service. It was so moving and everyone embraced the occasion. His wife was so lovely and couldn't thank us enough for coming. She knows her husband would have been so chuffed to know he had a
I have to say this is and probably will be the most memorable and moving troop I have done. The friends and family of the gentleman were so appreciative of us being there and it was a lovely and humbling moment.
It's moments like these that make the difference in peoples lives. Some people will mock and joke about people dressing up in costumes and think it's weird and nerdy. Well I can tell you that seeing the look on children's and adults faces when we meet them, seeing disabled children smile and get excited, and hearing great comments of how great the day has been made from meeting us, the money raised for charity, I'm proud to be a weird geek! It's making a difference that counts more than sitting on your arse and doing sod all!
Proud member of the UKG!

( 3 / 124 )Filming went well for Casualty, nothing really exceptional to report as it was just background stuff. Will let you know when I hear when it airs.
Things are a little quiet at mo so will add things as they come in. I hope those who managed to make the LA Xena Con had a good time, I wished I could have gone.
Later

( 3 / 94 )This is one of those great little troops that warms the heart. Jacob is a four year old little boy from Northampton who is currently fighting with Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is a life threatening illness.
This brave little lad asked Make a Wish for a laptop, now knowing he loved Space, Rockets and Star Wars a few extra special treats were laid on for Jacob as a surprise! A stretch Limo was organised to take Jacob to a certain shop so he could pick out the laptop he wanted. He was met by Buzz Lightyear who helped him choose his gift. He was then taken to the National Space Centre in Leicester (adopted home of the UKG!) Here he was treated to a lovely lunch and the biggest surprise of all, 3 Stormtroopers suddenly appeared to meet him. Now to say Jacob was shocked and amazed was an understatement! He just couldn't beleieve what he was seeing! His parents laughed and said it was the quietest he has ever been! The troopers stayed and chatted with Jacob and his family and escorted then to the other side of the Space Centre to go on a rocket simulator. To say we made his day I think hits the nail on the head!
I hope his family doesn't mind me posting this picture, I just think his little face says it all!

( 3.1 / 99 )Just a quick update, the new BBC series Mistresses which I did a couple of days work on is being aired on BBC1 this January. The first episode starts on Tuesday January 8th at 9pm, it stars Sarah Parish, Orla Brady, Sharon Small and Shelley Conn.
It's a contemporary drama which recounts the lives of four 30-something friends who each have a different experience of infidelity and love: devoted mistress; wronged wife; unwitting instigator; bed hopper. The tangled web of love and deceit envelops all four with life-changing revelations, proving that life is not always greener on the other side.
The episodes I was involved in were for the character Siobhan (Orla Brady) which is set in a busy law firm. I was playing the secretary so you may see me walking around the office and bringing in a plate of sandwiches during a meeting!
Happy New Year everyone!
