Tess of the D'Urbervilles filming

A winter wonderland best described the weather for filming! I woke up on the morning to see 5" of snow! Thankfully the filming was later on in the day and with the beautiful sunshine, most of it had cleared by the time I got to location just outside Bath. As soon as I arrived I was pretty much shipped off to the costume dept where I was put in, I think one of the best costumes among the supporting artists. I was then taken to hair and make up where they put my hair up in a style of the period. I think I must of had at least half a tub of hair grips in my hair! As usual with filming lots of hanging around was the order of the day with dinner too. We were eventually sent down to the location which was a beautiful farm with lots of out buildings all wood framed and large slate tiled roof. The scene I was in was set at a barn dance and it was literally a big wooden framed barn. Some of the SA's were dancers, the rest of us were set around the barn, it looked great. There was also a traditional Irish type band to play the music, kind of reminded me of that dance scene in Titanic!
Just before we filmed the scene the snow started to fall again and it was like being at the North Pole! It was really cold so when we started the filming and we had to take our modern coats off, boy you felt the freezing temperatures. You could see your breath when you spoke! It all seemed to go smoothly and it was fun when you tried to forget how cold you were! Filming wrapped at about 10.45pm and it was good to get back into some warmth and thaw out!

Not sure when this shall be aired as they have just started. This is the BBC's new adaptation of the Thomas Hardy novel so expect a great production!

Just a quick note to say I have a days filming on the new BBCdrama Tess Of The D'Urbervilles this coming Sunday. Only background stuff but it sounds like it could be interesting, set at a barn dance with plenty of alcohol flowing! Just hope it's not too cold as the forecast is pretty dim and cold! Off to get some thermals!
The second day of filming for me on The Last Saxon is next weekend with the last, fingers crossed on the following Sunday.
I'm also off to London for an audition for a short film next week so fingers crossed!

Film & TV Memorabilia Fair - NEC, Birmingham 29th-30th March 2008
Well here we are already at the Spring Mem! The headliners for this event were Doug Jones (Silver Surfer from Fantastic Four), Anthony Daniels (C3PO from Star Wars), Warwick Davis (appeared in Willow, Harry Potter etc), unfortunately Vic Armstrong had to pull out on the day so he was a no show. Pity as I was looking forward to meet him, for those of you who might not be sure who he is, he was a very successful stuntman doubling up for the likes of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Christopher Reeve as Superman. Vic has a blog site where you can read more about this amazing chap Vic Armstrong

Well this time I decided to leave the white armour at home as there were many members signed up in the white armour so I thought I would dust the cobwebs off the Xena kit (even though I wore if for the casualty filming!) I'm glad I did as it was quite a refreshing change, got lots of attention and people knew who I was! Great to have so many compliments about my costume and likeness! Made more fun and enjoyable by walking around with Indiana Jones and Cpt Jack Sparrow!GRIN

Had a great time talking to Warwick, very friendly and polite and his children were very cute! Guy Siner who played the gay German officer in the TV series Allo Allo was a laugh and posed for a fun photo too!

As always there were lots of nice things to buy if you have the money! Other attractions at this Mem were the "Robots Live", it looked like the robots off Robot Wars TV series battling it out in an arena, certainly made a lot of noise! The Garrison as ever was out in full force with some great new costumes, especially the Viper Squad from the new Battlestar Galactica, great job with the costumes! Lots of newbies experiencing their first troop too, well done all! I believe the photo stand took about £600 over the 2 days so top job to all those involved!

Until the next one............

The Last Saxon Filming
At last my first days filming happened after 2 previous cancellations. Filming on Cannock Chase the weather was a mix bag of sunshine, rain and wind with some cold wind chills! Bbbrrr it was pretty cold as soon as the sun disappeared and the wind picked up! The scenes filmed were the final battle scene with my character having a few scenes before and at the end of the scene. Have 2 more days of filming one of them being filmed at a place called West Stow a re-conctruction of a Anglo Saxon village, the other at some caves in Derbyshire. With the film only being a 12 minute short, the final film should hopefully be done and complete in a couple of months. Will post up again when the next day is arranged.
