There are a couple of cracking events coming up with the UKG and if you can make any of them I would highly advise it!

Firstly there is the annual "Great River Boat Race" in London with upto 300 crews entering the gruelling 22 mile race! Starting at the Isle of Dogs and going onto Ham in Richmond, this year see's the crews rowing against the tide. The UKG are involved through the actor Jerome Blake from the Star Wars films. He will be part of the crew on a viking longship who this year have asked if MediCinema would like to be the beneficiary of the Viking endeavours. With the support UKG give to this amazing charity, there will be an Imperial presence at the start of the race and Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann at the finish who will fire a cannon at the finishing boats! There will also be some Royal Marines firing back at Jack so it should be a lot of fun. The event is on the 5th September and all times and details can be found through the link.

Please support the crew and donate what you can afford, every little helps and is greatly appreciated. Here is a link to the donation page and also all the information about this amazing event Great River Race Link
Here is also an image of the Souvenir Programme for the event

Sean and I will also be appearing at the Help for Heroes event the following day (Sept 6th) in Worcester, a brilliant fun day raisng money for injured soldiers and helping them get their lives back together again. We will be attending as Jack and Elizabeth alongside other UKG characters with some surprise TV stars. If the boat race was too far away to attend then try this worth while event. Here is the link for further details

There is also the big event in the UKG diary, the Movie Mania Weekend at the National Space Centre on 26th/27th September. As ever there will be an array of characters from film and television portrayed by the UKG and the great guys of the USCM Alien Legacy. Check out the Space Centre website with a great trailer if the Alien Encounter which is making a welcome return to the event!

Cheers everyone!

Shadower - filmed in Oklahoma Jul-Aug 09
The second half of Sean's and my trip to America after the SDCC was the filming of Shadower. Shadowers are like vampire's but have been around longer. They kill by not biting with fangs but by crushing the throat and opening a vein to feed.

The story is of a young girl (Asha) who believes she is a Shadower, she has lost the will to live, hating her way of life as a Shadower and tries to starve herself to free her of what she see's as a curse. Upon running away from the clan of Shadowers she stumbles across a farm where she finds Danny and maybe her salvation. Danny has recently returned to his parents farm after growing up with his aunt in England after the death of his parents when he was a child.
The leader of the Shadowers (Garin) sends Rand to bring Asha back. Rand is a protector, a pure blood, stronger, deadlier and more powerful than any other Shadower.

The story follows the torment that Asha suffers, having now found Danny and feeling love for the first time, and the need for redemption for the killings she has done. Rand is torn between duty and caring for Asha and not wanting to hurt her, waits for Asha to become too week to struggle so she can take her back without a fight. With Rand seeing humans as inferior in everyway, she pays Danny a visit to warn him off and to stay out of her way when she comes for Asha.

Rand also has to deal with the leader of the clan who disagree's with her methods and sends another protector to bring Asha back. The film follows each characters stories and the choices they make and the consequences for their actions. Will Danny save Asha, will Rand go against the wishes of the clan or take Asha back, or will Asha's need for redemption over rule her feelings for Danny?

The time we had over in Oklahoma was just an amazing experience and we felt so welcome and at home. We were filming on a farmstead in the middle of nowhere with the nearest neighbour over a mile away in any direction. It as so peaceful and hot! The hottest day was 104f so most of the day was spent inside staying cool! There is so much to report on the trip, too much to put on here! For now I will just write about the film and maybe write another blog about the other stuff later.
I loved playing the role of Rand and I got to ride a 650cc Kawasaki in the film, just great! Rand is such a cool character to play and I enjoyed scaring people! :) Sean was amazing as Danny, Trinity who played Asha was brilliant and it was a pleasure working with them as it was with the rest of the guys. I cannot write about this without mentioning Delane and Arlyne, Denny and Jayne and Jessica I cannot thank you enough for making our stay and experience so lovely.
A website is under construction at the moment and there will be a My Space and Facebook page set up soon. I will post up on here as soon as I have the links.

San Diego Comic Con 23rd/26th July 2009
This year saw the San Diego Comic Con celebrating it's 40th Anniversary. The event was totally sold out months beforehand with the maximum tickets sold of 125,000 and was attended by an array of stars and artists. With every every ticket gone and hotels sold out months in advance, the annual comics-themed pop culture extravaganza has gotten as big as it can physically get. The guest panels had an array of stars from Robert Downey Jr, Tim Burton, Megan Fox to name a few with Johnny Depp dropping in too.
Sean and I had been asked by the people at the brit comic 2000AD to attend the convention dressed as Judges from the realm of Judge Dredd to help raise the profile of the stand. It took us months to make/get the costumes together and there still is some work to be done but we got the costumes to a standard that was good enough for the event. I would say 99% of the attendee's knew what were dressed as and absolutely raved about the costumes. Every single comment about the costumes was positive apart from 2 which was from Sean and myself! The costumes weren't exactly how we would have liked them because we are sticklers for detail. We had so many pictures taken we were dizzy from turning around to pose for photo's!
Judge Hershey and Lopez
As the event was so huge we hardly saw anything we wanted to and looking at video's on youtube were amazed at how much we didn't see! We did get to meet lots of people and meet up with a couple of friends. We got several amazing compliments from some of the artists in attendance which means a lot. The 2000AD stand did really well and had the best year at the Con they've ever had! It's nice to think we might of had something to do with that and help raise the profile of the comic.
Hoping that we will be attending next years Con plus many more!GRIN

Just completed the Birmingham independant short film "Frame of Mind", a black comedy about a guy who thinks he's loosing his mind as a film crew are following him around that only he can see. I play his therapist who he goes to to try and sort his head out. A funny script which was fun to do. Will let you know further news as and when it comes in, the film is due to be entered into several film festivals.

Just had a great weekend down in Cornwall on a medieval weekend celebrating Camelfords 750 Charter. The Joust was held at the King Arthur Centre at Slaughter Bridge along side displays of Falconry and foot combat. I got to play in the hunting games which was brillant fun and then watch Sean in the joust. Here is a great compliation of footage of the games and joust Destrier's Camelford Joust

Sean and I will be appearing with the UKG this Sunday at the Movieum SFX weekend in London as Wolverine and Dark Phoenix, looks like it will be a great event. Check out the site if you can make it! Movieum SFX Weekend
